obtain a Business Licence?

Business License

Business License Overview           BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATION FORM

Any person owning or operating a business within the Village of Kaslo must obtain an annual Business Licence. This applies to all retail and commercial establishments, management and professional firms, home-based businesses, tourist accommodations, short-term rentals and other  operations.

Business Licenses are issued annually. A renewal form will be sent to you by mail.

Changes to your License

Business owners are required to notify the Village of Kaslo of any changes to their business licence. Updates to an existing business licence should be updated no later than November 30th via letter to the Village office.

The issuance of a business licence is dependent on being in compliance with Village regulations. Regulations vary by type of business being conducted. The Zoning Bylaw regulates which business activities are permitted in each zone as well as home-based businesses.

Mobile and Unincorporated Businesses

The Village of Kaslo is participating in the West Kootenay Inter-Community Business Licence Program, which covers 5 municipalities. The ICBL (an additional $85) allows mobile businesses to operate in multiple municipalities, under one license, rather than obtaining non-residence licenses from each municipality.  The Village's base rates are the most affordable in the participating communities.

The Village's fees are set regularly in its fees and charges bylaw.  Please check with staff to ensure fees posted are current.
